Terms of Service

Last updated: February 2026

Acceptance of Terms

By using BetaShelf, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.

Your Content

You own your manuscripts. BetaShelf does not claim any ownership or rights over your uploaded manuscripts, feedback, or any content you create on the platform.

You grant BetaShelf a limited license to store and display your manuscript content solely for the purpose of providing our services (sharing with beta readers you invite, running AI analysis tools you request, displaying feedback to you).

You can delete your manuscripts at any time, which permanently removes the content and all associated data from our systems.

Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Upload content that infringes on someone else's copyright or intellectual property.
  • Use the platform to harass, abuse, or harm other users or beta readers.
  • Attempt to access other users' manuscripts or data without authorization.
  • Use automated scripts to abuse the AI analysis features or overwhelm our systems.
  • Upload illegal content.

Beta Reader Interactions

When you share a manuscript with beta readers, you are responsible for the share link. Anyone with the link can read your manuscript while it is set to "active" status. You can revoke access at any time by setting your manuscript back to "draft."

Beta reader feedback is provided as-is. BetaShelf is not responsible for the content or quality of feedback from beta readers or AI analysis tools.

AI Features

AI-powered analysis features use third-party AI models (OpenAI). While we strive for accurate and helpful results, AI analysis is not a substitute for professional editing. AI feedback may contain inaccuracies, and you should use your own judgment when applying suggestions.

Your manuscript content sent to AI models is processed according to our Privacy Policy. AI providers do not use API inputs to train their models.

Subscriptions and Payments

BetaShelf offers free and paid (Pro) tiers. Pro subscriptions are billed monthly or yearly through Stripe. You can cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal.

Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. If you experience issues with your subscription, contact us.

Service Availability

We aim to keep BetaShelf available and reliable, but we cannot guarantee 100% uptime. We are not liable for any loss of data or interruption of service.

We may update or modify features at any time. We'll do our best to communicate significant changes in advance.

Termination

You can stop using BetaShelf at any time. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Limitation of Liability

BetaShelf is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to loss of manuscripts, data, or revenue.
